Optical Safety Devices

Optical safety devices detect a presence in their protected field and don't require any action from the machine operator. Therefore, they are considered as more production friendly than other safety devices. Our broad range of optical safety devices includes light curtains, light grids and single beam. Some are basic for the simple applications, some offer more advanced functions as muting for the more demanding applications.

Safety Sensors, Switches and Locks

Sensors, switches and locks are used to control the gates and hatches around hazardous machinery, and to monitor the position of a machine.

Eden is a non-contact safety sensor used as interlocking device for e.g. doors and safe position monitoring. Sense is a non-contact safety sensor for interlocked doors and safe position sensing. The safety sensor is used to assure that a machine stops when a door or hatch is opened.  MKey safety switches are intended for detecting the position of moving guards. They are designed to fit the leading edge of sliding, hinged or lift off machine guards. Knox can be used either as a safety lock to a cell/line with long stopping time, or as a process lock to prevent unnecessary process stops.  Magne is an electromagnetic lock intended for electrical locking of doors and hatches with a holding force of up to 1500 N.  Dalton is a process lock intended to prevent unnecessary process stops. It can be used either as a stand-alone lock or integrated with the Eden safety sensor.

Safety Contact Edges, Bumpers and Safety Mats

Pressure sensitive devices detects when a pressure is being applied to them. For example when a person is being hit by the safety edge/bumper or is standing on the safety mat.

Safety edges and bumpers are used as protection against squeezing. Bumpers are used for longer stop times. Safety mats are mainly used for area protection around dangerous machines.

ASB safety bumpers consist of a soft foam core that provides a long braking and stopping distance (overtravel). This is the perfect solution for machines with a longer stopping time. The ASK-1T safety mat has a molded ramp rail. These are cost-efficient and easy to install. If two or more mats are to be joined together, the ramp rails are simply cut off. Safety Relays and Controllers

The Sentry safety relays are powerful and easy to use safety relays, suitable for all common types of safety applications. The Sentry series contains basic models for simple applications and easy output expansion, as well as highly flexible models with extremely accurate timer functions.

Vital offers the capability to exclusively control smaller machine safety systems that would otherwise have required a programmable controller or multiple safety relays. With the Vital safety controller, up to 30 safety devices can be connected in series to one Vital and still reach PL e.

The Pluto concept enables simple communication, programming and changes to the system. Pluto reduces installation time in many ways.

Sentry BSR models are cost effective safety relays for basic applications such as monitoring of e-stop buttons and expansion of safety outputs when no timer function is needed. Expansion relays are used to increase the number of safe outputs of another safety relay or a safety PLC like Pluto. This is suitable in applications where several machines need to be stopped. Sentry TSR10 and Sentry USR models offer advanced timer functions such as off-delay, on-delay, time bypass and time reset. The time is set via the display, from 0 to 999 seconds with an accuracy of ± 1%. Sentry USR models are universal safety relays and the same model can be used with most types of safety devices which reduces stock and saves warehouse space. Vital Safety Controller offers the capability to exclusively control smaller machine safety systems that would otherwise have required a programmable controller or multiple safety relays.  Pluto is a safety PLC for all machine safety applications. Most safety devices on the market can be connected directly to Pluto and multiple safety sensors can be connected to a single input and still achieve the highest safety level. 

Safety Control Devices

Safety control devices are used to directly start and stop dangerous machine movements. We offer several different types of control devices to meet different needs. 

Safeball JSHD4 two hand station
Safeball consists of a spherical ball containing two embedded pushbutton switches, one on each side of the ball. To be able to start and operate a machine both buttons must be activated. The risk of unintentional activation is thereby minimized and the device is simple and ergonomic to use.  Three-position devices (or hold-to-run devices) can be used for troubleshooting, programming and test running in situations where no other protection is available or feasible. With a three-position device the operator can either press harder in an emergency or release the device to stop the machine. A two-hand device can be used when it is necessary to ensure that the operator is outside and must be prevented from reaching into the hazardous area. The JSTD25 replaces the traditional two-hand device. With a JSTD25 two-hand control station you have a prepared two-hand unit that is easy to install, while utilising the good ergonomics of the Safeball.
